DESCRIPTION:Angela Rossen is the Heritage Collective’s first Artist in Residence. You will find out more about Angela : \nArtist in Residence \n \nAngela will guide visitors to explore coastal birds and discuss natural life at the Nature Discovery Space which is regularly tended to by the amazing team of volunteers at Cottesloe Coastcare. Learn how to spot the birds of the dunes and the shore. Bring your binoculars or just come as you are. \nMeet at the Cottesloe Nature Discovery Space near Vlamingh Lookout. \nAngela Rossen is both an artist and a biodiversity educator. She has worked with marine biologists in the School of the Biological Sciences at UWA for fifteen years as a science communicator. She is an amazing artist\, a painter that can capture colour\, movement and unique experiences of the ocean floor. \nAngela’s residency will bring children\, families and the wider community into nature to discover\, observe and record the living things in their own environment. \nThis experience is free\, but registration is essential. \nSupported by Curtin Heritage Living and Lotterywest.

DESCRIPTION:The Heritage Collective is excited to announce the inaugural Artist in Residence project with artist; Angela Rossen. \nThis is a free event. Angela Rossen will discuss her experience as both an artist and a biodiversity educator. As well as her studio practice\, she has worked with marine biologists in the School of the Biological Sciences at UWA for fifteen years as a science communicator. She also holds the position of Adjunct Artist with the Australian Institute of Marine Science. Whilst working alongside her scientific colleagues Angela has created an opus of artworks on near shore marine biodiversity. \nAs Artist in Residence with The Heritage Collective\, Angela will be inviting with people from all walks of life throughout the community to take part in a program of exciting events over the coming months. The residency will conclude with a survey exhibition of nature studies created by the participants documenting all the living things of the coastal environment.

You will learn how to carve the block and print a small edition with some beautiful papers. This session is good for first-timers\, and for previous participants; this workshop will include more detailed mark-making techniques to create texture and pattern in your print. \nIncludes light\, delicious lunch\, and all materials. \nNicola Cowie is multi-award winning artist based in the Avon Valley. Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour inspired by the natural environment of native flowers\, birds and the landscape. Art deco and figurative influences have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Nicola is originally from Scotland and was trained in Fine Art Printmaking at Gray’s School of Art where she gained her honours degree before moving to Australia in 2005.
