SUMMARY:AVÉ at The Heritage Collective
DESCRIPTION:Join the Australian Vocal Ensemble (AVÉ) for an exclusive afternoon or evening of music and conversation in the intimate surrounds of The Heritage Collective\, as they unveil a bold new song cycle inspired by the words of one of Australia’s most revered writers\, Tim Winton AO. This premiere performance features a suite of commissioned works that capture the vastness of Australia’s landscapes and the subtleties of modern life\, interpreted through the voices of composers deeply connected to Western Australia. \nCompositions by Emma Jayakumar\, Ruben Davies\, Lachlan Skipworth\, and Aaron Wyatt reshape Winton’s storytelling into a sonic experience\, drawing out its lyricism and sense of place. The program also includes works by other outstanding WA composers previously commissioned by AVÉ\, including Iain Grandage\, Perry Joyce\, and Andrew O’Connor. \nWith three of AVÉ’s four core members — Fiona Campbell OAM\, Louis Hurley\, and Andrew O’Connor — having strong ties to WA\, this event is a heartfelt homecoming and celebration of local composers\, singers\, and stories. Guests will have the unique opportunity to connect with the ensemble\, experience new works in their world premiere\, and hear firsthand the artistry shaping a bold new chapter in Australian vocal music. \nRefreshments will be served 45 minutes prior to each performance. \nABOUT AVÉ\nFounded in 2021 by Dr Katie Noonan\, AVÉ brings Australia’s stories and languages to life through song — intertwining ancient traditions and contemporary compositions. In just over three years\, AVÉ has commissioned 61 new works and become one of the country’s most distinctive and innovative vocal chamber groups. With a spirit of collaboration\, a warm and welcoming demeanour alongside creative excellence\, AVÉ is redefining the sound of 21st-century Australia.
