Discover Charcoal with Artist Desmond Sweeney

Get your hands dirty with muralist Desmond Sweeney in his course ‘Discover Charcoal’ workshops. Having worked for organisations such as Opera Australia and NIDA, as well as creating large-scale murals across the country, Desmond is well-equipped to guide students in using this drawing medium to create captivating interplays of light and shadow.

In this course, you will build your confidence by learning to draw and create form using various shading techniques.

The 2-hour class covers the following topics:
– Basic drawing techniques
– How to use different types of charcoals and conte crayons, along with erasing techniques
– How to sharpen and shape charcoal pencils and sticks in preparation for drawing.
